UNIFORM
Available from the office. Please make sure shoes are suitable for playing safely in.

P.E. KIT
Children need a school house t-shirt, a pair of shorts and some trainers. They may also have a tracksuit for colder weather.

No jewellery please; earrings to be removed for P.E.

Please make sure all clothes are labeled.

WEEKLY HOMEWORK

• Daily reading
• Regular spelling/phonics practice (details to follow)
• Times tables
• Skills checks for Grammar and Maths (alternate weeks)
• Weekly Mathletics homework (matched to learning in class)

ACCELERATED READER
A powerful reading programme and tool for monitoring and managing independent reading practice, created to meet the needs of every child.

The information is used to support teachers in helping children select books that are difficult enough to keep them challenged but not so difficult as to cause frustration. It also helps monitor children's vocabulary growth, English skills development and reading skills.

ACCELERATED READER...

• promotes reading for pleasure
• helps to develop a lifelong love of reading
• motivates children of all ages to read more
• raises literacy standards for children of all ages
• encourages children to read 'real' books

ASSERTIVE MENTORING

Every half term, children are assessed in Maths, Reading and Writing. School life no longer has levels (just stages and steps...).

This information about your child's progress will be shared at Parents' Evenings.

TRASH OR TREASURE?

• Story telling and persuasive writing
• Trip to Amey Cespa (letter to follow)
• Work on human impact and ecological issues
• Arts and crafts

RAINFORESTS

• Folk tales with morals

FOREST SCHOOL

• Half a class at a time
• Two consecutive afternoons every 7 weeks
• Kit letters will come out before your child starts
• Over the course of their time in school, children experience all seasons.

HILLTOP RESIDENTIAL
An opportunity for a fantastic experience of a residential trip - 3 days in the beautiful Norfolk countryside near Sheringham.

There will be activity days arranged for those who do not go.

EXTENDED SCHOOLS ACTIVITIES

• The Extended Schools Programme is published each term.
• Clubs provide opportunities for children to pursue their interests or talents.
• Sporting activities, cooking, art, ICT, gardening and many more.
• There is a before and after school facility for those that require it.
