  • Balanced calendar
  • Single track or multi-track
  • Multi-track allows more student enrollment

Glossary of Terms

  • Year round school- instructional days are spread throughout the entire year
  • Balanced calendar- longer periods of time off spread throughout the school year
  • Single track school- all students and teachers follow the same calendar

  • Multi track school- students and courses are grouped into distinct schedules, usually to maximize limited space
  • Charter school- a publicly funded independent school established by teachers, parents, or community groups under the terms of a charter with a local or national authority.
