Yom Kippur is the day of atonement for people's sins.

WHEN IS YOM KIPPUR CELEBRATED?

  • It occurs on the tenth day of Trishi
  • (Trishi is the seventh month of the Jewish year).

Traditional dress?
On Yom Kippur, most people wear white clothes which symbolizes purity, and calls to mind that our sins shall be white as snow. On Yom Kippur people also wear kittel.

Foods that are eaten.
Because during Yom Kippur the one of the restrictions say the Jews have to fast, no food is eaten.(no water either.)

Special Activities
During Yom Kippur, most people spend their time at a synagogue. They stay there from the early morning to 3:00. They later return at around 5 or 6 PM for afternoon services. When the afternoon services end, they blow the tekiah gedolah, (a shofar).
