In the 19th century the yorkie was catching rats for mill workers in Yorkshire, England. Selective breeding made the yorkie what it is today.

The yorkie is born black and grows into the golden tan and steel-blue color that grows from neck to tail. It has vigor and spirit too!

The yorkie is not well fitted for families with young children. It is more suited for older children and smaller areas. They are prone to some eye illness and hip displacia, but that is in the later years.
