PRESENTATION OUTLINE
Our Prayers are to be Private, Directed to God
“Short, frequent, intense.”
– Martin Luther
Know that you are praying to a Father who cares for you and has the power to answer
Pray that God's name would be honored
The Lord's Prayer should be like a lab, not like a lecture
"To learn about prayer, you must pray."
- Haddon Robinson
Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
- Matthew 6:10
What is the Gospel that Jesus came to preach?
After John was put in prison, Jesus went into Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God. "The time has come," he said. "The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!"
- Mark 1:14-15
After this, Jesus traveled about from one town and village to another, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom of God.
- Luke 8:1
When Jesus had called the Twelve together, he gave them power and authority to drive out all demons and to cure diseases, and he sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God.
- Luke 9:1-2
After his suffering, he presented himself to them and gave many convincing proofs that he was alive. He appeared to them over a period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God.
- Acts 1:3
He proclaimed the kingdom of God…
- Acts 28:31
The Gospel is the arrival of the Kingdom of God.
The problem is we have turned the gospel into something else.
Heaven is NOT just a pain-free zone.
Heaven is being in the presence of God.
“God’s kingdom is the sphere of his unhindered influence.”
- Gordon Hugenberger
When we pray, "Your kingdom come," we are saying, "Make up there come down here."
- John Ortberg
When we pray that we also acknowledge God’s authority to rule everything, including us.
"Your will be done" are words of surrender.
