TECHNIQUE? USING MEDIA IN A PARTICULAR WAY, EG:

  • Painting gradually from light to dark
  • Crosshatching in biro to add tone
  • Layering coloured pencil to achieve richer colours.
  • Drawing on fabric with wax to create a colour resist.

  • Achieving a clean line with not too many drips

  • Making sure the wax does not sit on the surface of the fabric

REMINDERS

  • Dip the tjanting into the wax frequently to keep the wax hot.
  • Keep an eye on the wax - is it see through on your fabric?
  • Dont tip the tjanting too much - avoid drips if you can!
  • Dont touch the metal of the tjanting or wax pot.
  • Behave sensibly around the hot wax. It can hurt!
