  • Yukon's condition is mostly tundra
  • It's winters are long and bitterly cold 
  • It's summers are short and cool

Important features

  • In the southwest is the St. Elias Mountains of Yukon 
  • Mount Logan in Elias Mountains is tallest mountain in Canada
  • Yukon & Peel river drain in the Yukon
  • Bordered by British Columbia, Northwest Territories and Alaska
  • Surrounded by Sewlyn and Mackenzie ranges section of Rockies

Economic Activities

  • Mining gold is chief industry
  • Also mined along with zinc, lead and silver
  • Other activities are fur trapping, fishing, agriculture and lumbering
  • Hydroelectric power powers mines and settlements (current)

Traveling

  • Airplanes are mostly used for transportation current (current)
  • Charter services are used for more remote settlements (current)
  • Alaskan Highway in Yukon is heavily used road (current)
  • People travel White Pass or Chilkoot Pass to get to Klondike River
  • People also took ships around to Yukon instead of walking
