Zhu Di made his companion Ma He chief of servants and changed Ma He's name to Zheng He in commemoration of their victory.

The Yongle proved very ambitious he wanted to make his empire flourish and in order to do that he needed to control the trading in the Indian Ocean.
He assigned Zheng He as supervisor of construction and commander of a fleet of 3,500 ships.
