ZULU BRITISH WARS

CAUSES

The British colonies in South Africa wanted to take over the land and get the diamonds in South Africa. They believed that the Zulu nation was a threat. In December 1878, the British High Commissioner in South Africa, Sir Henry Bartle Frere, picked an argument with King Cetewayo of the Zulu nation. Sir Henry Bartle Frere thought that the Zulus were no match for Britain.

RESULTS

The British captured King Cetshwayo in August 1879 and won the war.

CHANGE CREATED

South Africa was put under British control. It put an end to the tribes in the area. It also added to Britain's wealth. It also sets the stage for apartheid.
