Tang Dynasty Begins

A new dynasty emerged, it lasted from 618-907. The early Tang rulers began their reigns by instituting reforms,as ruler did in the early days of new dynasties.

Song Dynasty


The Song Dynasty Ruled during a period of economic prosperity and cultural achievements from 960-1279. They also experienced problems from the north. These groups crossed into northern China and occupied most of China.

Sui Yangdi

Sui Yangdi was The second emperor of the Sui Dynasty. Completed Grand Canal, linked the two great rivers of China, the Yellow River and Yangtze River. Made shipping products easier.

Government and Economy


During all of the dynasties, a mature political system based principles first used during the Qin and Han Dynasties. In the Han era, China was a monarchy.

Mongolian Invasion During the 1200's, the Mongolians fought others and made an empire. Within 70 years, they controlled all of China. The Mongolians also overthrew the Song and made a new Mongol Dynasty in China.
