Freedom Walkers

By Russell Freedman

I learned that Rosa Parks didn't know what she did wrong when she got arrested. The picture shows Rosa sitting on the bus the day she got arrested. The significance of the photo is that, what she did, started the bus boycott.

I learned that Jo Ann Robinson didn't mean to break the law. This picture shows Jo Ann standing outside the bus after she ran away of embarrassment. The significance of the photo is that she told people how poorly the bus driver treated her, when she sat in the first ten seats of the bus. This caused people to be angry, which led to the bus boycott.

I learned that people were proud to be arrested, during the bus boycott. This picture shows Rosa Parks getting arrested. The significance of this photo is that people were proud to be arrested because it shows that people tried to make a differnece.

I learned that everything was separated with blacks and whites. This picture shows the two drinking fountains, one with colored and one with white. The significance of this photo is it shows the unequal treatment of blacks and whites.

I learned that Martin Luther King Jr. did all of the planning for the bus boycott. This photo shows Martin preforming a speech that told people about the boycott. The significance of this photo is that if Martin didn't plan the boycott the Civil Rights Act may have not been signed.
