Matthew 14:25-30 •Peter was given the simple instruction to "come." •He grew distracted by his surroundings and took his eyes off God •We tend to ignore God's instructions when things are hard
•v 22: "Thus did Noah, according to all that God commanded him, so did he." •Noah didn't question God or take his eyes off His instructions •God kept His word wiped out almost the whole human race but provided animals and his family to be able to repopulate later
•God gives us these instructions to prepare us for the future -God gave Noah instructions to prepare for the flood -Having taken 55-75 years, it could also be a test of patience
3) God's instructions for us are always a test of obedience and faith •In both passages, men were given commands to obey but they had very different results •Peter sank, Noah floated
Where does God give us instructions? •Given by the Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:1-17) and more •Not given to obey temporarily •They are to help us grow in our faith to Him
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16
