WHY ARE HUMANS OFTEN DECEPTIVE?

The essential question i came to conclusion with is, why are humans often deceptive? This is shown not just in my story, but through people and in friendships and relationships

The author gives seven reasons for deception and how to spot a liar. One of the reasons is to preserve their self image. An example of a person who would preserve their self image is a politician. They lie about certain pieces of information to make themselves look better in the eyes of the people. An important reason is to protect a relationship or someone else’s feelings. This type of lying is done to protect special people in your life like a best friend. An example for Murder of Roger Ackroyd is when Poirot, one of the protagonists, finds out that Dr Sheppard, another main character, is the murder. Sheppard tells Poirot to lie to his sister to protect her from finding out what he has done.

A chronic liar is not just being deceptive, it can create chaos between friends and can lead to an untrustworthy environment with tension. However, “Not all lies are the same and not all liars are pathological. Some lies are justifiable, while others aren’t. Some are major, while others are minor” (arabi 16). The author states that all lies are not equal. There are different types of lies that are spread throughout friendships.
In conclusion lying is not right to do and it can hurt many people in many different ways.
