  • Oldest reference to folded paper in Japan- the 500s
  • Brought by Buddhist monks
  • Paper was expensive, used for ceremonial/religious reasons

Traditional & Modern Origami

  • Made from folded paper
  • No cuts are used
  • Traditional uses dry paper
  • Modern may use wet paper

  • 1000- lucky number in Japan
  • Sasaki Sadako- survived atom bomb @ Nagaski
  • Got leukemia
