BORN: 1467, BELMONTE, PORTUGAL. DUED: 1520,SANTAREM,PORTUGAL.

  • He explored for valuable spices.
  • Establish trading relations with India.
  • In 1500 he took a fleet of 13 ships south intending to travel around Africa.
  • He veered westward and found land mass which he named Vera Cruz.

  • He proved that traveling around Africa was a valuable trade route to the east.
  • He discovered Brazil.
  • In 1497, he was regarded as the first captain who ever touched four continents, leading the first expedition that United Europe, Africa, Asia, America.

  • He made it around the " Cape of good hope" which has terrible storms.
  • He came back to Portugal on June 23, 1501, with only four of the thirteen original ships.
