The Marvelous McDonald's

Background

  • Born: October 5th, 1902 in Oak Park, Illinois  
  • Worked as an ambulance driver for the Red Cross during WWI
  • Later became a salesman before joining McDonalds in the 1950's
  • Died: January 14th, 1984 in San Diego, California. Cause: Heart failure. 
  • Although he started working in high school, Kroc did start Hamburger U.

Accomplishments

  • Started working at the age of 15.
  • Became a milkshake machine salesman where he met the McDonalds brothers. 
  • Later was a franchising partner and made a cut of the profit.

  • Ray Kroc strived to make his restaurants high quality establishments  
  • Uniformity and consistency were Krocs goals for the McDonald's franchise  
  • Each store needed to have the same high quality food, prepared the same way
  • These ideals made McDonald's the successful fast food monopoly it is today

Innovator

  • An innovator is one who comes up with new ideas.
  • The ideas better a business towards what the consumers want.
  • Ray Kroc gave new ideas for the McDonald's franchise entice more customers.

Strategist

  • A strategist plans out what the business should be and makes it reality.
  • By working in many new ideals and concepts, Kroc made  Mcdonalds' future

Risk-Taker

  • A risk-taker sacrifices their own capital and energy to start a business.
  • There is no guaranteed return with said risks. 
  • Kroc really wasn't a risk taker. 
  • He found an already successful business and worked with the owners.
  • He didn't take control of the business until he already established himself

Ambition

  • One with ambition is highly motivated and sets goals for themselves.
  • Ray Kroc set many goals to have a uniform business and was determined to.

Self-Confidence

  • Believing in yourself and feeling certain about accomplishments.
  • Ray Kroc had no doubt he would be successful.

Willingness to Take risk

  • Not afraid to risk their resources.
  • Ray Kroc didn't need to risk his resources, only when he bought his share.

Energy and Self DISCIPLINE

  • This is a willingness to sacrifice and work hard.
  • Ray Kroc started at a young age working very hard.
  • He also sacrificed much of his young life to work.

Perserverence

  • They never give up. 
  • Kroc never stopped trying to acheive his goals.

Problem-Solving Ability

  • Being able to find solutions and make them happen effieciently.
  • Kroc established new ways and methods of production with his employees.   
  • These methods made the quality and quantity of McDonald's food skyrocket.

Organizational Skills

  • These are skills used to balance aspects of a business, keeping them alive.
  • Ray Kroc possessed these skills and showed them by McDonalds' success.  

Ability to motivate others

  • This is the ability to make others do what is needed and have them want to.
  • Ray Kroc didn't really show this trait.
