PRESENTATION OUTLINE

A Straightener...

prefers neat spaces and straight lines
If you LOVE the look of straight lines and even the slightest disarray sets you into a tizzy, you are a 'Straightener' Organizing Personality!

WHAT IS YOUR STYLE?

Are you a 'Straightener' Organizer?
We all have natural behaviors regarding the use of time and how we organize the spaces we inhabit.

Do you prefer tidy piles...

even if the items are unmatched?
Although a #Straightener organizing personality likes tidy arrangements... they may look organized yet sometimes feel like they can never find things.

Do you straighten items

that look askew or off-center?
A true #Straightener organizing personality will straighten piled items that have become askew almost anywhere!

Does it bother you...

when things are not neatly stacked?
In their effort to tidy (especially in a rush), Straightener's tend to do what they do best - Straighten things up ANYWHERE they encounter mis-arranged items... (even at a Doctor's office or hotel room!)

Maybe you are a
Straightener Personality

Straightener's believe that 'tidy and squared-up is an organized life'! But, if you're simply arranging items to look tidy, you may forget where it is when it's needed again quickly. When too many things are stacked up with no systems it can feel disorganized!

Especially before company comes...

Do You Straighten it up?

Regardless of what is stacked there?
If you are straightening piles of items that do not go together, (and this becomes a pattern), it can look neat, but will not be organized! You'll create tidy but disorganized spaces!

Do items get lost?

(Even after you've straightened up?)
Just because it looks tidy and straight doesn't mean it's organized.

Organized is defined as
1. knowing what you have
2. having what you need
3. knowing where to find items
4. finding things when you need them

If you're a 'Straightener'
Try these ideas...

There are prescriptive approaches that always help #Straightener's get organized.

Audit Your Collections

to determine what you have
Start with a deep audit of what you have and identify if you still love it, need it and use it!

Donate!

If it will make someone happy
Purge your stuff! Straighteners are known for simply rearranging as their collections grow - even when items are no longer useful. Sorting (and purging) collections, then controling items as they come in helps you master your space rather than disorganized stashes mastering you.

Throw It Away!

If you don't love it, or haven't used it
It is okay to let it go if you no longer need it, love it or use it... Honest.

Choose Storage That Aligns

Arrange everything to have a home.
Tidy aligned items make #Straightener's so happy! So find storage items that you love, that matches your style and aligns all your loved items into tidy sets.

Sort to Organize

By color, type, size or category...
Create a basic sorting system that helps you straighten and arrange items as they come in. This will help you master your space rather than disorganized stashes mastering you.

Organize Like With Like

Sizes go together...
Create storage systems that organize things that are alike together... Then store them functionally. This means that you'll need to store items closest to where they will be most used.

Buy A Label Maker

You'll thank me as soon as you open it
Buy a label maker (and don't forget the batteries!)
This one purchase may actually change your life!

Use Labels Everywhere

Categorize by color, type, size or usefulness...
Oh yes, if I haven't said it enough - Label everything. This one simple technique - and it always works to make #Straighteners happy!

Organize What's Out of Sight...

Rx = Containers & Labels Help Alot
Although you may look organized, the way to feel organized is when you can find it when you need it. So set up systems 'behind the scenes' by labeling storage areas behind closed doors.

Use Drawer Dividers

So everything has a place to call home..
Even your junk deserves a home. Drawer dividers work really well to assign items an address. And, don't forget to put things back when you use them. You don't want a bunch of homeless items floating around before company comes!
