result Clause

  • You know its a result clause when there is a DING DING WORD 
  • DING DING WORDS: tam, tot, tanta , sic, ita ,adeo etc
  • ut/ non ut connects the clauses 
  • ut is positive while non ut is negative 
  • "I was SO tied THAT ( ut) i fell asleep"

Purpose Clause

  • Indicative Clause 
  • ut/ ne connects the clauses
  • shows the purpose of an action
  • " My mom went to the store TO (ut) buy groceries"
  • the purpose of my mom going to the so was for her to buy groceries

Indirect Commands

  • Indicative Clause: verb of commanding
  • verbs: rogare, imperare, orare, persuadere, hortari etc..
  • ut/ ne connects the clauses
  • "Caesar ORDERED the soldiers TO(ut) set up the tents"
  • In most causes the first noun is not the subject of the second verb,

Indirect Questions

  • Indicative Clause: HEAD VERB 
  • ex. of head verbs: rogare, admirari, cognoscere,scire etc..
  • A question word connects the clauses: Quis, Quid, Quando, Ubi etc 
  • "You do not KNOW (Scire) WHEN( ubi) practive is"

Cum Clauses

  • They are broken down into 3 clauses
  • CIRCUMSTANTIAL
  • CAUSAL 
  • CONCESSIVE

CIRCUMSTANTIAL

  •  uses "WHEN" 
  • Cum is usually at the beginning of the sentence
  • "WHEN(CUM) the fighter tapped out, he lost the fight"

CAUSAL

  • CUM at the beginning of the sentence
  • "Since, Because" 
  • "Because / Since (CUM) the girls run every day,  they will not
  • be caught once the Zombie Apoclypse happens. 

Concessive

  • CUM at the beginning of the sentence
  • uses ALTHOUGH
  • In the Indicative there is "tamen" 
  • "Although( cum) it was raining, nevertheless I ran outside"
