Through my personal experiences with fellow Christians, I have noticed a misunderstanding about Messianics. And I'm not so sure that this misunderstanding is innocently derived in most.
I don't know the reasons for the misunderstanding, but I do know that we like to be right. And nothing supports our "rightness" like being able to point our finger at "the wrong."
I am defining Messianics as people who worship and live out a Hebraic expression of the faith in Jesus/Yeshua. I can further define in subsequent posts.
An exercise for operation splinter sweep. Think of a people group that you normally would not consider yourself as being a member. Black? Mexican? Muslim? Polish? Jew?
And when we do that, we tend to de-legitimize much about that culture. We often speak of their customs and even their beliefs as backward, "off," or unneeded.
That's how many Christians have been conditioned to believe (and react) to the concept of a Messianic Jewish believer. Distaste, at least. Disdain, in some cases.
This is just one myth or misunderstanding about Messianics. For more on this Hebraic expression of faith in the Messiah: First Fruits of Zion, Wild Branch Ministry, Shoreshim Ministries.
