1. A non-renewable is one that can not be replaced easily. A renewable resource is one that can be used over and over.
a. We are recycling non-renewable resources reducing the need for production and processing of future non-renewable resources.
b. Yes, there are benefits, stopping people from dismantling electronics and being around harmful materials.
c. Some disadvantages are the time taken to drive to recycle and the fuel to drive there.
d. We know we are correct because we have researched strong sources that support our claim.
2. Hydrosphere- chemicals from wasted electronics can pollute the ground water after leaking down.
Biosphere- the chemicals could infect living plants or animals and kill them.
Geosphere- electronic waste takes up space that could be used for renewable resources.
3. It is fairly easy to implement recycling electronics into their lives. All they need to do is drop off old electronics that are not being used at a recycling plant. The only downside is you would have to find a recycling drive and get there.
4. There is some money involved but there is not very much. All the money involved is the gas money to drive to a drop off place.
5. There is a inconvenience, but it is not very much. All you need to do is drop off your electronics at a drop off site.
6. Solar power- Renewable resource, it does have a connection because it could use more space on the surface of the earth to use for solar arrays.
Wind power- Renewable resource. It is connected because electronic dumps uses space for potential wind mills.
Biomass- Renewable resource. This is not connected because this uses organic materials, not minerals or chemicals to burn.
Geothermal- Renewable resource. There is no viable connection to our idea.
Hydro-Electric Plants- Renewable resource. There is no viable connection to our idea.
Nuclear Energy- Nonrenewable resource. There is no viable connection to our idea.
Coal-Fired Electricity Plants- Nonrenewable resource. There is no viable connection to our idea.
Petroleum Energy- Nonrenewable resource. There is no viable connection to our idea.
Recycling one million desktop computers prevents the release of greenhouse gases equivalent to the annual emissions of 16,000 cars.
