Dianne Brill Queen Of The Night -To The Future Through The Past The Exhibition is a visual archive of the times that formed the basis for today's culture of individualism. The 1980s were the years of seismic change when differences between classes began to blur. New York City was the Mecca that attracted creative individuals; the club scene was their venue.
They came from small towns and large, from aspiring artists to star-struck actors to struggling singers, musicians and dancers to curiosity seekers and those whose ambitions has not yet crystalized. In Downtown Manhattan they found fertile ground. They found established artists and also discovered others who had been waiting for just the spark of creative permissiveness the newcomers introduced. What they all had in common was imagination and an openness to new experiences that led to inventiveness and a fresh way of approaching art, entertainment, and most of all, a mingling of different segments of society.
