I will give a rather personal discussion of how my collaborators, and I have used the FCI to understand issues in conceptual physics on classical mechanics courses. This includes a recent collaboration with colleagues at the Physics Department at the University of Johannesburg (UJ), of which I am visiting Senior Research Associate. I will give some history and context to UJ , and then hopefully be able to have an open discussion about current and future opportunities.
